A wind whispers through the leaves
It moves the grass to dance;
The trees that touch the sky in breeze
And ripples flail in chance.
The metal cars reflect the sun
And twang within the midday heat.
The growl upon the tarmac – numb-
That blisters children’s’ scattered feet.
The outhouse door plays matted beats.
The northern lights that tumble down
To dance across the unseen air.
She calls to wolves in hollows sown,
From nature cruel and fair.
It’s here you’ll find me there.
A blind turtle swims for golden rings,
But who accepts this crown?
When all our soul was gathered up
From scattered all around.
Where we can speak ‘I am’ but
We all fall primal to the cut.
Lost, we grasp at stars and gods,
The sun sails far away.
Smile and give your polite nod,
Or cup your hands and pray.
Peace curls so far away.
The blind turtle has found the ring;
At once the ‘I am’ spoke.
The universe, one living thing
Then all the people woke.
